A. Introduction

The following is an explanation of what a hyper-anonymous work is and how it is presented, etc. It is meant to serve as a guide for those wanting to publish and/or propagate hyper-anonymous works.

B. Definition

A hyper-anonymous work is any work of expression where both the author is not known and the facts surrounding the origin of the work are not divulged.

C. The Mystery

1. It can be the original work of the anonymous presenter or publisher.

2. It can be some other anonymous person’s work submitted to the presenter or publisher for anonymous presentation.

3. It can be some other anonymous person’s work quoted or borrowed from somewhere else.

4. It can be the work of many people.

5. It can be a composite or a derivative of other anonymous works.

6. It can be many other things reflecting the undetermined nature of the authorship and source of the work.

D. Benefits

1. The hyper-anonymous invites others to improve upon and propagate the work. The motto of the hyper-anonymous is “Spread the meme.”

2. There is no one to attack and no clear group to demonize, but only ideas that challenge one to consider them.

E. Past, Present, Future

1. There may have, in the past, already existed a concept comparable to the hyper-anonymous.

2. A concept comparable to the hyper-anonymous may currently exist in the present.

3. The hyper-anonymous may be succeeded in whole or part by some other concept in the future.

4. None of the above matters because the hyper-anonymous belongs to no one and everyone at the same time.

F. Criteria

1. Any mode of artistic or literary expression can be hyper-anonymous.

2. Any work in the public domain that is known to be anonymous and for which there is no clear origin of publication, etc. can be presented in a hyper-anonymous manner.

3. Any work in the public domain that is anonymous (but where the origin of publication, etc. is known) can be presented in a hyper-anonymous manner if the author and original publisher consent to it.

G. Presentation

1. Anyone publishing or presenting a hyper-anonymous work should make no claim about the authorship or origin of the work, even if it is the presenter's or publisher's own creation.

2. A person publishing or presenting a hyper-anonymous work may or may not endorse the work in whole or part.

H. Relationship to Other Works

1. Any work that fits the criteria of the hyper-anonymous can be used in the creation of another hyper-anonymous work.

2. Other works can be or quoted or cited in a hyper-anonymous work, as long as proper attribution is made to those works and the rules of “fair use” are honored.

I. Notices

1. There many be no notice to indicate that a work is hyper-anonymous.

2. There may be just a generic statement that a work is hyper-anonymous.

3. Optionally, one can use the following hyper-anonymous symbol:

... followed by a statement about the hyper-anonymous nature of the work. The same can be typed as ...

“[?HA?] This article is hyper-anonymous.”

4. A notice for a hyper-anonymous work is, for all intents and purposes, just a disclaimer against affirming any details about the authorship or origin of a work.
